The Jim Beam decanter or bottle is a very collectible item from the Jim Beam Distillery. Originally these types of decanter were used as a sales tool by the distilleries of various whiskey brands including Bells and Jack Daniels along with of course Jim Beam. They are not only made of glass but come in ceramic and porcelain and in a myriad of shapes from leprechauns to horses (think Bells whiskey) to cars and animals.

Just because a decanter has the whiskey in it doesn't make it more valuable so don't be fooled into paying more just because it's full. Not only that, but it is actually illegal to sell alcohol without a proper license. Here are some more reasons why you shouldn't purchase a full bottle or decanter.

1. It could break, spilling the contents and ruining carpets, tables etc.
2. A full decanter is a fire hazard, with alcohol being pretty combustable.
3. There's no point in keeping the liquor - it will go off and be undrinkable, the conditions in a decanter aren't right for the correct aging process to take place.
4. If contained in a ceramic decanter, the alcohol will corrode the inside and thus damage the decanter.
5. A child could get hold of it and be extremely ill if they decide to drink it.
